“Light Catching Shadows”

“Light Catching Shadows” is the name of the current installation by Berlin artist Camilla Richter at Bikini Berlin, close to the Zooligischer Garten Station. The installation will run until 28th of April 2018 and is open to walk around and through.

Camilla Richter_02The interesting thing about the work of Camilla Richter is the playful interaction of light and colour through the use of dichroic glass. In her composition for Bikini Berlin, she uses dark metal frames looking like folding screens which hold rectangular dichroic glasses of different sizes and colours as well as empty spaces in the frames. Hanging in the space are other rectangular rotating frames with dichroic glass. Part of the installation are light moving heads or projectors which make the installation more perceptible as the coloured light moves around in the space.

Strategically placed sitting sacks allow visitors to sit and enjoy the slowly moving patterns of colours, which have a relaxing effect. The installation is an homage to spring and catches the eye with bright colours.

We would like to see the work of Camilla Richter in one of the Olympus Playground installations and be able to dive into her work on a larger scale!
