Olympus Perspective Playground 2017 in Berlin

How can photography and lighting go apart?! Never! One does not exist without the other… Although sometimes (for example in works from James Turrell) it is quite hard to photograph what you see…

Anyway… This year in September Olympus did another “Playground” interactive art exhibition at the Krafwerk in Berlin.

The concept of the Olympus playground is really exciting. It’s all about photography and lighting – and art, and space, and skills… They invite artists to make an installation at some big building and lend their cameras to the visitors at the entrance, letting them experience the cool equipment they have and taking the SD card with them at the end. All for free. Ok, it’s obviously a marketing concept, they want to sell the cameras. Nevertheless, the idea is amazing and it allows people to have fun while testing their photographing skills and Olympus’ equipment.

This year in Berlin, there were a few really cool installations, which, I have to say, were not that easy to photograph. I’m uploading here the ones I found most interesting and linking them to the artists’ description page on the Olympus Perspective Playground site.

It’s a pity there was no photography competition this year… in 2014 I won a prize with this photo:

Thanks Olympus for the exciting exhibitions you have been setting up! Always great to be there and test out the great equipment you have!
